Locavores are the new generation of picky eaters! A locavore is a person interested in eating food that is locally produced, not moved long distances to market. The locavore movement in the United States and elsewhere was spawned as interest in sustainability and eco-consciousness became more prevalent.
Recently an Alaskan woman became a locavore for a week, by strictly consuming only locally sourced food!
The local librarian decided to become a locavore for a week for ‘amusement’ and sustained herself on locally grown cabbage, eggs and tomatoes for a week. Although she said she craved sugar and oil the entire week, she estimates that the short term lifestyle change caused her to drop 20 pounds in a week!
